Athletics

 General

Inspired by the traditions of St. John Baptist de La Salle the athletic programs offered at De La Salle College “Oaklands” provide young people with opportunities to further develop the spiritual and academic values which characterize the school.

Athletic activities are intended to build character, integrity and sportsmanship and instill a sense of pride and achievement. Participation in athletics contributes to physical, personal, social and spiritual growth, thus enabling student-athletes to become better people now and active leaders in the future.

Athletics are divided into three seasons – autumn, winter and spring.

Hockey, Soccer, Canadian Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Swimming, Cross Country and Track and Field, Badminton, Baseball, Tennis, and Ultimate Frisbee are among the sports currently offered.

The first Catholic school to be granted membership in the prestigious Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association, De La Salle College “Oaklands” has a long history of participation in various leagues. Many student-athletes have gone on to distinguished professional careers in the NHL, CFL, university level coaching and sports broadcasting.

 The Athlete's Prayer

Lord, grant me the desire to use my strength, mind and talent as I play.

Keep every one safe from harm or injury.

Teach me humility in victory and grace in defeat.

Help me to compete in a way that best represents our traditions.

Bless my efforts and those of my teammates.

In your holy name I play.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts – Forever!
